Bees Feeding – Macro Photography Sequence

Today I took some photos of a bee feeding on Nepeta racemosa.  Instead of taking a single shot then moving on, I decided to try a sequence. I’m fairly pleased with how the images came out. I feel the angle could be better but the images are incredibly sharp.

Photography – Insects on Sedum telephium ‘Matrona’

Some macro shots of bees and butterflies on Sedum telephium ‘Matrona’ today. This plant is always a winner with the insects. It’s just coming into flower now and will bloom through into October. The foliage provides a nice bronzey tone for the rest of the growing season.

Butterfly Bush – The Best Common Name

Plants can be referred to by either a common or binomial name. Common names vary from place to place and from language to language, whilst binomial names are standardised worldwide. A species can have many common names but only one binomial name. As a professional Horticulturalist binomial names are more useful to me.

In the case of Buddleja sp. the common name “Butterfly Bush” has to be my preference. Today I took some photographs of the butterflies enjoying their bush! Photos below.
